Real estate has always been a part of my life, and after studying international business, I moved back to San Diego and became a REALTOR®. I worked in real estate from 2006 to 2008 with investment clients, but the market crash completely devastated the economy.
Despite loving real estate, I had to pivot, returning to a position at Trader Joe’s. It became clear to me that I hadn’t set myself up for success. I had treated my real estate business more like a paycheck than an actual business. My initial success before the recession had come too easy. I never had to struggle to grow my business, and as a result, I didn’t do what was necessary for continual growth and improvement.
In late 2012, I decided to get my REALTOR® license again—real estate was always the end goal for me. While working at Trader Joe’s, a great friend of mine came into the store and asked me to help them through the buying process. I was so grateful they sought me out to be their REALTOR®.
While the transaction didn’t enable me to quit Trader Joe’s, it encouraged me to keep going and keep working to the point where I was able to quit and be a full-time REALTOR® again.
My return to real estate made it clear why I love being a REALTOR®. I enjoy interacting with people and learning their stories. In the past, when I was working with investors in real estate, it was almost exclusively through the phone and fax.
The properties were bought sight unseen. Now, I find so much fulfillment in learning each client’s individual needs and helping them reach their goals. I realized that I value helping people one-on-one, allowing me to make a genuine difference in their lives. It is an incredibly rewarding business that I am proud to be a part of.
With each market shift, there will always be a feeling of uncertainty, and the shifts in recent years due to COVID and the aftermath of the pandemic were no different. The greatest difference this time around was how I structured my business. I have spent over a decade establishing myself as a reliable, trustworthy REALTOR®. My business truly has come leaps and bounds.
With a relationship-driven business, I now have a reliable career that allows me to provide for my family. As an athlete throughout much of my life, I am fiercely competitive.
When my clients come to me with a goal, I jump at the opportunity to help, doing everything in my power to help make it a reality. Throughout the years, I have developed my expertise, cultivated many great industry resources and have helped countless people and families make their dreams a reality.
Having an adaptative approach has continued to set me apart, allowing me to meet the needs of the market and my clients. Looking back, I’m grateful for the challenges that taught me invaluable lessons and the opportunities that helped propel my career forward.
With two kids, Reagan and Jake, I’m even more grateful for the flexibility real estate provides to be there for my family. We bought a new home to accommodate our growing family, with a pool and a great backyard space to have friends, family and neighbors over. We have found the perfect place for our family, and knowing how much that means to us is a source of motivation to help my clients do the very same!
As I find myself in a new phase of my real estate career, the years I put into learning and growing have become the foundation of the great services I deliver to my clients.
